Kazakhmys the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan
19 August 2020 FROM ELECTRIC WORKSHOP TO MAIN POWER ENGINEER

There are many specialists at the Sayak mine of Balkhashtsvetmet Production Association of the Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, who started their career with blue-collar jobs, and at the same time having received an education and having proven themselves from the best side, climb up the career ladder.

Andrey Vladimirovich Zorin, the chief power engineer of the Sayak mine, is one of these employees who has 27 years of experience in the energy sector.

In 1993, Andrey Zorin came to work in the Sayak-I quarry of the Sayak mine as an electrician for repairing equipment of the 3rd category. Over the course of a year, showing his abilities and efforts, he worked and developed, gradually increasing the discharge of the underground electrician: first from the third to the fourth, then from the fourth to the fifth.

While working at the mine, he managed to study at the Balkhash Humanitarian and Technical College and received a diploma in electrical engineering.

During his work at the quarry, Andrei Vladimirovich and his colleagues ensured the good condition of the serviced devices, the correct operation of equipment throughout the Sayak-I quarry - and soon, Andrei Zorin, was transferred to another area - to the Tastau quarry, acting as the chief power engineer.

His personal qualities and work experience did not go unnoticed – he was directed exactly to the place where it is necessary to fix something and put the work on a high level. Andrey Vladimirovich walked the length and breadth of the entire Sayak mine - he worked in all areas - an energy engineer of the mine surface maintenance section, an electromechanic of Sayak-I mine, an energy engineer of Sayak-III mine, then he became deputy chief power engineer of the mine, and in 2007, he was appointed chief power engineer of the Sayak mine. For 13 years now, he has been leading this troubled but necessary service at the company. Wherever Andrey Vladimirovich Zorin worked, he always provided high quality work. Strictly followed and monitors the compliance of employees with the rules of industrial safety and labor protection, because working with electricity, any mistake can be very expensive.

Among other things, Andrey Zorin is also a mentor for young employees. Currently, his students and colleagues-Rinat Agylshanov, Abylai Tokenov, Nikolai Starichenkov – work at the mine sites, they masterfully cope with the tasks set in production – this is an uninterrupted supply of electricity to the entire enterprise.

The mine's electrical facilities are very extensive: it consists of 17 substations, about 6 km of internal barrier lines, and about 8 km of internal cable lines. Operational switching, moving supports, working with high-voltage equipment-all this is carried out by employees of the mine's energy service. Therefore, all employees of the service (which is more than 80 people) are high – level specialists who have a large baggage of special knowledge.

The basis of the team – employees with long experience in the company and a high level of professionalism. No major modernization of electrical equipment at the mine is possible without their participation!» - says the chief power engineer of the Sayak mine Andrey Zorin.

They say that energy attracts strong and reliable people, because they take responsibility for the stability and reliability of electricity supply on a daily basis. Specialists in this industry usually wish stable and trouble-free work, and all conscientious and valiant professional and purposeful power engineers of the Sayak mine, led by Andrey Vladimirovich Zorin, should wish the implementation of new projects, high achievements and inexhaustible energy.

On the eve of the professional holiday of miner's Day, the whole work team of Sayak mine, got good news - Andrey V. Zorin submitted for the award of the Ministry of industry and infrastructure development of the RK – the breast sign "Kenshi danky" III –degree.
