Nurkazgan mine of the Branch of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP - PA Karagandatsvetmet, located 70 km from the city of Karaganda. The total number of employees working together with contractors is more than 1100 people.
Since the introduction of the State of Emergency in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the quarantine regime at the mine, all the envisaged preventive and preventive measures have been and are being carried out on an ongoing basis as part of the execution of the Decisions of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Karaganda Region.
Despite the measures taken, the first case of coronavirus infection in the mine was recorded on May 6, 2020. One patient was identified, three closely contacted and 21 potentially contacting workers who were quarantined.
The management of the company made a decision to conduct a PCR laboratory test among employees of the mine among people who had contact with patients during the performance of their work duties. According to the results of this survey and the self-appeal of workers to medical institutions, 35 cases were identified.
Currently, the production cycle at the mine is suspended, only repair and maintenance work is carried out by 100 people per shift with a 12-hour operating mode. Workers are accommodated in a separate sanatorium.
Currently, the situation is under control. The Nurkazgan mine workers are tested by PCR. 100 percent coverage is planned. In addition, compulsory PCR is included in the requirement for contractors. Workers with negative results are sent on regular labor leave for self-isolation.
Since June 01 of the current year, the Nurkazgan mine has been switching to a rotational work method in compliance with all additional sanitary requirements of the authorized body, which will significantly minimize the risks of CVI diseases.
