18 May 2020 DIGITAL SECURITY SOLUTIONS

The Kazakhmys group of companies annually spends significant funds on continuous improvement of the industrial safety and labor protection system, modernization of technological processes, training and health protection of personnel. As world practice shows, modern digital capabilities can be used to effectively address these issues.

As part of the work to reduce severe and fatal injuries carried out jointly with experts from DuPont Sustainable Solutions, suitable digital tools are already being actively implemented at the Group's enterprises. The first results of digitalization are visible now.

For example, in the mine tunnel trust, it is planned to install circular cameras on fifteen self-propelled vehicles (SPV), which will reduce the risk of collision with a pedestrian. This initiative is also planned at the Nurkazagan mine - to eliminate the risks of collision with a pedestrian or collision with other equipment. The mine already has positive experience with the use of video surveillance cameras in underground transport.

The radar detection system was tested in conjunction with human-machine sensors at the Nurkazagan mine in March 2020. Testing has shown good results, so in the near future - the installation of a radar detection system at 22 SPV and the installation of chips in individual lamps for almost 500 employees.

Similar goals will be served by the analytical collision prevention system-ISS System, which is planned to be implemented in the transport of the Shatyrkul mine. Installing rear-view cameras to increase the visibility of operators of the East Zhezkazgan mine SPV will also help solve problems related to insufficient visibility. As for the Balkhash copper smelter, the risk of hitting pedestrians will be prevented by installing alarms and traffic sensors at the points of entry and exit of vehicles from the workshops.

Further work aimed at consolidating the gains made in the field of occupational and industrial safety the Kazakhmys Group. Compliance with current safety requirements is the key to reducing injuries and it directly depends on each employee - from the worker to the director. The possibility of using digital solutions will help to significantly improve security work, so it is important to implement such tools for everyday work.
